This book describes the journey of how my faith grew from being a Catholic to embracing my life as a Catholic. When my son, Keith, was born in 2001 with Down Syndrome, I began to realize the mysterious ways that God was showing in my life had a purpose. This child brings so many lives closer to God, where God's timing and unfolding of his plan occur. Jesus gives us many graces and blessings, if we but ask and have faith he will answer us. While praying one morning, I heard in my mind, "Cathy, will you carry my cross? Do you love me?" When I answered I would, but didn't know what to do, I was told, "It will be revealed to you." I had the realization that I had been prepared, called, and needed to obey God's will to carry his cross. Through clinging to my faith and prayer, I would choose to embrace his calling to carry the cross. I would realize that though grief and happiness come and go, joy is always there, if we realize that the love of Jesus, dying on the cross, is only thing we need. You, too, can choose to pick up the cross and follow him to eternal life.

With a historian's precision, Luke's Gospel shows painstaking care both in detail and in expression. Of equal distinction is the universal appeal of the Gospel. Barclay's insightful comments help each of us to see the infinitude of God's love through Luke's eyes. For almost fifty years and for millions of readers, the Daily Study Bible commentaries have been the ideal help for both devotional and serious Bible study. Now, with the release of the New Daily Study Bible, a new generation will appreciate the wisdom of William Barclay. With clarification of less familiar illustrations and inclusion of more contemporary language, the New Daily Study Bible will continue to help individuals and groups discover what the message of the New Testament really means for their lives. -- Book cover.

The catalogue presents 'Christ Carrying the Cross', recently rediscovered by Carlo Falciani in a private collection, which was born out of the intense friendship between the painter and art historian Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) with Bindo Altoviti (1491-1557), important banker and refined art collector and patron. The artwork was painted in 1553, just before Vasari's return to Florence to take service as court painter of the Duke Cosimo I de' Medici. The painting shows the extremely high quality reached by Vasari's production in Rome - where he was working for Pope Julius III and where the Florentine banker Bindo Altoviti had a palace and conducted business - and, at the same time, it shows the experimentations of his manner, characterised by the re-elaboration of modern and contemporary models, in this case works of Michelangelo, Francesco Salviati and Sebastiano del Piombo.00Exhibition: Gallerie Nazionali d'Arte Antica di Palazzo Corsini, Rome, Italy (24.01. - 30.06.2019).

I found the whole booklet so rich, spiritual and scriptural and appropriately backend by saints, that there was nothing in the book that could be side tracked. Going through the book I felt that the book was the creation of a person who has himself carried the cross, put into practice whatever advice he has given. To make the prick less painful whatever advice he has given. To make the prick less painful Fr. Paul suggests a few methods under the title " The Art of Bearing the Cross". This book, in short, explains to us what the cross it, its meaning, its inevitability, necessity, and its importance in spiritual life.

Baptists in Romania have developed a practice of suspicion when it comes to religious dialogue, especially with the Romanian Orthodox tradition, due to a history that is characterized by oppression. In this detailed study Dr Daniel Oprean paves the way for positive dialogue between the two traditions, highlighting that much can be gained and learned by acknowledging similarities and differences in key aspects of theology. Dr Oprean explores how existing theological resources can be used to enhance theological discourse between Baptist and Orthodox traditions in Romania through in-depth analysis of the thought of British Baptist theologian, Professor Paul Fiddes, and Romanian Orthodox theologian, Father Dumitru Stăniloae. Oprean in particular looks at their understanding of trinitarian and human participation through perichoresis, the Eucharist, Christian spirituality, and baptism and chrismation. Presented as a conversation between the two traditions this study is a model for how theological and religious dialogue can facilitate reconciliation, not just in the church but also in wider society.

A Bible student reference A New Testament prophecy of a falling away from truth into apostasy and lawlessness, in the final generation before Jesus Christ returns in glory, is being fulfilled now and is shortly to end. Yet Christianity has overwhelmingly moved so far from its first century roots that it could not even recognise this – or that Christ’s return is therefore now almost upon us! How and why this is the case is here explained thoroughly and logically with many examples directly from the word of God. In God’s saving plan for the world, everyone must in time make a free will choice to become part of the ‘Israel of God’ in order to access eternal life in the kingdom of God. The route to take is the “strait and narrow” way (Mat 7:13-14) that very few have so far found, and it involves the biblical new and old covenants which both apply to this Israel. Embark on this voyage only if you are willing to: be challenged about some basic Christian preconceptions, be a serious open-minded Bible student, and trust what the Bible teaches - but remember that time is short. “What the Bible has taught me I see as both vital and urgent for our eternal salvation; yet I know of no church or individual theologian who teaches what this book deals with in any substantive way” “Be prepared for major challenges to your understanding just as God has challenged me.” “In the epistles, Paul refers to two Israels whom he calls Israel after the flesh (I Cor 10:18) and the Israel of God (Gal 6:16); I focus mainly on the latter (but I also explain an unexpected but critically important connection between them)” “Dependent on the teaching, nearly all Christian denominations either teach nothing at all on it or almost the opposite of what Scripture repeatedly showed me. Looking back, I find this absolutely staggering!” “Very few [Christians] understand that the new covenant also only applies to Israel (as I will clearly show).” “I no longer believe that the NT [New Testament] can be fully understood without this extra Israel dimension” “Had I felt I could deliver this in a more light-hearted way I would have done so, but its implications are too awesome and fundamental to our eternal life prospects for that”
