When Beth Michaels hightailed it out of the hole-in-the-road town she grew up in, she only had two goals. One—get as far away as quickly as possible, and two—never set foot in her parent's home again. But when she receives a heart breaking call from her childhood best friend, Jen, she has no choice but to turn her '56 Ford pickup back in the direction of Salem, Missouri to attend a funeral. There's a new local in town when Beth arrives, and suddenly, it ain't all that easy for her to remember her rules for dating. #1. Cookie-cutter-perfect guys ain't her type. #2. Tie wearin' and church frequentin' is an automatic dismissal. #3. Most importantly, never date anyone from small minded, conservative, Bible-thumping towns like Salem. Unfortunately, Matthew Wright breaks all her rules and then some. Matt might be from a small town and have small town values, but that doesn't mean he fits into a little slot of Beth's preconceived notions. After all, ever so often good guys are good. Now if he could just convince Beth to let go of her past and give him a chance, he's pretty sure there's a whole lotta sweet under that prickly exterior. His own … Sweet Contradiction. Reading Sweet Contradiction is like lounging by the lake on a Sunday afternoon while soaking in the rays and drinking an ice cold glass of sweet tea. Fans of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie MaGuire will love Sweet Contradiction, as well as fans of the hit TV Show on The CW— Hart of Dixie.

But now Beth has gone and gotten herself hitched, and Jen can't help but feel like she's all alone once again. When Hunter Wright comes strolling back into town after leaving her behind without so much as a "see ya later" when she needed him the most, Jen suddenly realizes she isn't as over him as she thought she was. And perhaps she never would be. But things are complicated now, and Jen has a secret that makes it impossible for her to throw caution to the wind and fall back into the arms of the man who broke her heart. Sometimes, a new beginning, a new life, and a new outlook can mean so much more than understanding and forgiveness. Sometimes it can mean putting faith in someone who has the ability to hurt you or the ability to make you whole. Jen knows more than anyone that love can be such a "Perfect Contradiction." Grab your favorite pair of cowboy boots and a glass of sweet tea because you are in for a sweet ride with this sequel to the best-selling novel Sweet Contradiction."

Poetry. CYPRESS is a series of linked meditative poems focusing on the Cypress Hills of southwestern Saskatchewan, a remarkable landform that Barbara Klar has come to know intimately. Moving with grace between the perceptual moment and its visionary dimension, Klar opens numinous avenues of reconnection to place. Intensely moving, courageous in their utter dedication, eager for the roots of being, the poems in CYPRESS carry us to a unique landscape that is also a place of transformation.

In the late sixteenth century, the French royal court was mobile. To distinguish itself from the rest of society, it depended more on its cultural practices and attitudes than on the royal and aristocratic palaces it inhabited. Using courtly song-or the air de cour-as a window, Jeanice Brooks offers an unprecedented look into the culture of this itinerant institution. Brooks concentrates on a period in which the court's importance in projecting the symbolic centrality of monarchy was growing rapidly and considers the role of the air in defining patronage hierarchies at court and in enhancing courtly visions of masculine and feminine virtue. Her study illuminates the court's relationship to the world beyond its own confines, represented first by Italy, then by the countryside. In addition to the 40 editions of airs de cour printed between 1559 and 1589, Brooks draws on memoirs, literary works, and iconographic evidence to present a rounded vision of French Renaissance culture. The first book-length examination of the history of air de cour, this work also sheds important new light on a formative moment in French history.

Ever wonder what gives French women that je ne sais quoi? At first you might think it's the elegant figure, matchless style, and mysterious allure. Then you realize those qualities don't come from just anywhere. They come from generations of women raised to cultivate an extraordinary sense of self. French women know who they are, like who they are, and excel at presenting who they are. The rest of us are often susceptible to the next fad, the new thing, the ultimate diet. We're always seeking, instead of realizing that what we already are may be just right. Rarely does an American woman feel as comfortable in her own skin as her French counterpart. And rarely does an American woman have that essentially French ability to say no---to refuse anything that doesn't suit her, whether that thing is a job, a man, or the season's latest styles. Provocative and practical, lively and intelligent, Entre Nous unlocks the mystery of the French girl and the secrets of her self-possession. Why do French women always look inimitably stylish? How do they manage to sit in a café for a three-course lunch and a glass of wine...by themselves? How do they decide when they're ready to let someone become a part of their very private lives? Laced with practical tips, engaging sidebars, and essential observations about French women and their ways, Entre Nous is a delightful book that will help you take the best of all pages from the French girl's book---the page that reveals how to really enjoy life.
